The Fuel Senior Dogs Are Missing

The brain runs on glucose. But as dogs get older, it slowly loses the ability to use it properly, and that change starts years before you'd notice anything. What you see as confusion or restlessness often isn't the brain failing. It's the brain running short of fuel.

MCT oil gives it a second option. It converts into a fuel the aging brain can still take up and use, even when glucose isn't getting through the way it used to.

That's the whole idea behind Novera. Not a blend of a dozen things at token amounts, but one nutrient with genuine evidence behind it, at a dose that matches what the research was built on.

    Built On Real Evidence

Most senior dog supplements are built backwards. Someone picks a handful of ingredients that sound reassuring on a label, adds a pinch of each, and writes the promises afterwards.

We started at the other end. MCT is one of very few nutrients with genuine published research behind it for aging dogs, including a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in ordinary family pets rather than laboratory animals. Owners and vets alike were kept in the dark about which dogs received what, and improvements showed across every area measured, with most of the change appearing inside the first month.

That research is what set our dose. Formulated with veterinary input, made in a GMP-certified facility, and third-party tested for purity and potency. No proprietary blends, no hidden amounts. What's on the label is what's in the softgel.

    Quieter Nights, Calmer Days

The nights are usually what breaks people. The pacing that starts after dark. The panting. The claws on the floorboards at 2am. Standing at the wrong side of a door he's used for a decade.

It isn't stubbornness and it isn't just old age. Settling down takes energy, and by the end of the day an aging brain has the least of it left. That's why the evenings are worse.

Give the brain a fuel it can still use and those hours have a better chance of going the way they used to. Most owners tell us the nights are the first thing they notice, usually somewhere in the first few weeks.

    More Good Days Together

You already know how this ends. Everyone who loves an old dog does. What's still up for grabs is what the time in between looks like.

Not more days for their own sake. Good ones. Mornings where he's bright and interested. Evenings where he settles beside you instead of circling the room. The sense that the dog in front of you is still the dog you've known for a decade.

Novera won't stop him getting older. Nothing will. But it gives his brain what it needs to keep working the way it always has, for as long as it can, and that's what makes the difference between time passing and time worth having.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long before I see a difference?

Most owners notice the first small changes somewhere around two to four weeks, and the clearest differences by the end of the first month. Nights tend to be the first thing people mention. That said, changes in an older dog are gradual, and it's easy to miss them when you're with them every day. Give it the full 90 days before you decide — that's why the guarantee runs that long.

No. There's no age at which the brain stops needing fuel, and older dogs are the ones running the biggest deficit. What we'd say honestly is this: Novera works with what's still there. It can't undo what's already been lost, so the sooner you start the more there is to work with. But 15 is not too late, and this is by far the most common age we hear from.

MCT is a fat derived from coconut, not a drug, and it doesn't work through the same pathways as most medications. It's generally very well tolerated. That said, your dog is older and likely on something already, so if he's on medication, pregnant, nursing, or has a diagnosed liver or pancreatic condition, check with your vet first. Print the ingredient panel and show them — there's nothing on it we'd rather they didn't see.

Usually, yes. The softgels can be given whole, hidden in food, or pierced and squeezed straight over a meal, so there's nothing to chew and very little taste. This is one of the reasons we went with softgels rather than an oil you pump onto food — dogs refusing the taste is the most common reason MCT doesn't get used properly, and it's a problem worth designing around.

Most are blends — a long list of ingredients at token amounts, chosen because they're recognisable rather than because they work. We went the other way. MCT is one of very few nutrients with real published research behind it for aging dogs, so we built around that one thing at a dose matched to the research, from pure coconut rather than palm, with no proprietary blends hiding the amounts.

The most common one is loose stools in the first week or two, and it's almost always a sign the dose went up too quickly rather than a problem with the product. MCT is a fat, and digestion needs a little time to adjust to it. Some dogs are briefly a bit gassy in the same period. Both usually settle within a few days once you drop back a softgel and build up more slowly.

Beyond that, MCT is very well tolerated in dogs. It's a fat derived from coconut, not a drug, with no sedative effect and no grogginess — your dog shouldn't seem dulled or flat at any point. If he does, that's not this.
